The bright pictures, Omar’s artistic jaguar spots, and the pleasing sound of lots of words ending in -ar captured and held their attention beginning to end. The text is easy enough to translate on the fly, so I wouldn’t hesitate sharing even the Spanish only edition with English only speaking kids. They will pick up basic greetings (like “Buenos días” and “Buenas tardes”), readily relate to the rainforest fauna, and have no trouble grasping Omar’s attitude at the story’s beginning (“¡Grrr!”) The author / illustrator is an experienced teacher of Spanish language–and it shows!

They are animas from South America and this book will make you want to learn more about them and where they love. 2️⃣ The Story goes through and entire week, making this a great book for learning the days of the week in Spanish! 3️⃣ The length is perfect for my kiddos who are novice level and can’t sit through big long paragraphs of Spanish.
